Keeping you comfortable at home is one of our goals at Northern Virginia Roofing. That includes offering a warm blanket of attic insulation to make your home snug and cozy. Using the latest materials and methods, we wrap your home in a blanket of insulation that cools you in summer and warms you when the weather turns cold.
When heated air rises, it can go straight up through your ceilings and roof and out into the atmosphere, wasting energy and expensive heating fuel. Which is why it is critical that have a proper attic insulation. If your home is more than 10 years old, it is highly likely that it does not have sufficient attic insulation.
Most people are familiar with “batt” insulation that is rolled out in long strips. But blown-in insulation is more effective at providing improved R-value. Blown-in insulation is ideal for older home because it can be blown into the attics and walls without damaging the home
Northern Virginia Roofing installs two different types of blown-in attic insulation, fiberglass and cellulose. The fiberglass based blown-in insulation is made from molten glass that is spun into fibers. Cellulose blown-in insulation is composed of up to 85% recycled newsprint. The remaining content is most commonly a mixture of ammonium sulfate and borate that functions as a fire retardant. These chemicals also deter insects, rodents, and mold. Because blown-in insulation is loose material it can take any shape and is much easier to fit into oddly shaped spaces such as narrow attic eaves.
